For the second year running, Burn Energy and Mixmag are using the DJ Open to find emerging local DJs for the chance to perform on a multi-stop international tour featuring global stars.

This year KERET is organizing the DJ Open in collaboration with local event series, CRIME. Alongside a professional jury, the editorial team is looking for the most exciting talents - one of whom will win the opportunity to perform at the Budapest stop of The Burn Energy Tour, opening the night for MCR-T.

FAQ

What is the prize for this competition?
The winner of the competition will receive the incredible opportunity to DJ live at an international location on one of the Burn Energy Tour 2026 tour stops. This will include travel, accommodation, global visibility through Mixmag, Burn Energy and KERET media channels, payment for your time DJing, a 1x1 DJ workshop with Mixmag and a chance to perform in front of an audience in Morocco, Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Hungary, Norway or or Poland (however, we will always have your home country as the preferred location).
How do I enter the competition?
To enter, you must submit your DJ mix and fill in the application form through our official competition platform. Details on how to submit your mix, as well as any additional requirements, can be found on the competition’s entry page.
Who is eligible to enter the competition?
The competition is open to DJs of all skill levels across Europe and Morocco. There are no specific genre restrictions, so you’re welcome to submit any style of DJ mix. However, participants must be at least 18 years old to enter and able to travel internationally with a valid passport on the date required for the Tour.
What do I need to submit to enter?
You need to submit a DJ mix (audio or video format) of your performance. Please ensure the mix is at least an hour long, as either a FLAC, WAV or MP3 formatted audio file. Additional information, such as a short biography or personal statement, is also required via the competition’s entry page.
What is the judging criteria?
Entries will be judged based on a variety of factors, including creativity, technical skill, crowd engagement potential, originality, and overall vibe in line with our international headline acts. A panel of expert judges from Mixmag, Burn Energy and KERET will review submissions and select the top applicants.
Can I submit a pre-recorded mix, or do I need to perform live?
You can submit a pre-recorded mix. The competition is based on your DJ mix submission, not a live performance. However, if you make it to the shortlist you may be asked to share a video of your performing. Just remember you will be asked to perform live as part of the prize.
When will the winner be announced?
The winner will be announced at the end of the competition period, following the final judging round. You will be notified via email.
What international location will the winner perform at?
The specific international location will depend on the event’s schedule and partnerships. However, the performance will take place at a renowned, international venue, offering the winner exposure to a global audience. Winners will perform in their home countries unless there is an extenuating circumstance to perform in a different location.
Will travel and accommodation be provided?
Yes, the winner will receive a fully sponsored travel package, including transport, accommodation, and a per diem for the duration of their stay. Specific details will be provided upon selection.
Can I enter if I’m under 18?
Unfortunately, participants must be 18 years or older to enter the competition. We recommend checking back in the future for any potential age-related changes or additional competitions.
Can I submit multiple entries?
Each contestant may only submit one DJ mix per competition. Multiple entries from the same individual will be disqualified.
How will I know if I’ve been selected as a finalist?
Finalists will be notified via email and announced on our competition platform. If you are selected, you will receive further instructions on the next steps in the competition.
Are there any fees to enter the competition?
There is no entry fee for this competition. It is completely free to participate.
Can I use my own original tracks in my mix?

What happens if I am unable to travel to the international location?
Winners will perform in their home countries unless there is an extenuating circumstance to perform in a different location. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to travel to the international location to perform, an alternate winner will be selected. Please make sure you’re able to travel before entering the competition.
Can I get feedback on my DJ mix?
Due to the high volume of entries, we are unable to provide individual feedback on DJ mixes. However, the top submissions will be showcased on our website, so you can get an idea of what the judges are looking for.
